COVID Update : India reports 3.29 lakh new cases, lowest in 14 days
India on Tuesday 11 May 2021 recorded its lowest count of daily COVID-19 cases in 14 days but still well beyond the 3-lakh mark, as per the data updated by the Union health ministry at 8:30 am.
The country reported 3,29,942 cases in the last 24 hours taking the total caseload of Covid-19 cases to 2,29,92,517. The last time India recorded around 3.20 lakh cases in a day was on April 27 when a 24-hour count stood at 3,23,144 cases.
The highest single-day count of new Covid-19 cases in India has touched 4 lakh recorded on May 1.
With 3,876 new deaths reported in 24 hours, the country’s total death toll stood at 2,49,992, as per the health ministry. Between May 3 and May 9, India recorded 27,000 deaths, the country’s highest weekly toll ever.
After registering a steady rise for two months, the active cases have reduced to 37,15,221 comprising 16.16 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 82.75 per cent.
India has administered more than 17.27 crore vaccine doses across the country. The government on Tuesday said that over 18 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs free of cost by the Centre.
More than 90 lakh doses are still available with states/UTs to be administered. Over 7 Lakh doses, in addition, will be received by States/UTs in the next 3 days, said the Union ministry of health on Tuesday.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4.
