Pakistan batsman Omar Akmal fined 4.5 million fines
Pakistan’s controversial batsman Umar Akmal has paid a fine of Rs 45 lakh with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), making him now entitled to participate in the rehabilitation program of the anti-corruption unit of the board. The penalty awarded by the Sports Tribunal to Akmal has been deposited in the PCB. The Sports Tribunal imposed this penalty on the batsman while hearing cases filed by PCB and Akmal in February. Omar has deposited the entire amount of Rs 45 lakh with the board, which means that he can now participate in the program of the anti-corruption unit of the board. However, he will have to wait a little longer to resume his cricketing career. Earlier, the board rejected Akmal’s request to deposit an amount of Rs 45 lakh in installments. Akmal was banned in 2020 for violating the Anti-Corruption Code.
