Apple opens Siri to third party devices, brands
Tech giant Apple has finally opened up its virtual assistant Siri to third party devices and other brands as part of its major improvements through iOS 15. HomeKit accessory makers can now activate Hey Siri in their products. This allows customers to talk and receive feedback from Siri on third party accessories.
The series will broadcast requests through enabled accessories- HomePod or HomePod Mini and will support features such as personalized requests, intercoms, timers and alarms.
Starting today, smart home device makers can start working with Apple to integrate Siri into their accessories, Apple said during its flagship flagship WWDC21 developer conference late last night.
Apple has yet to release a comprehensive list of devices and brands that support Siri. It demonstrated Siri integration on an Ecobee thermostat during a Keynote presentation.
