Barbora and Anastasia to meet in women’s singles final
The women’s singles final of the French Open will be played between world number 31 Anastasia Pavliuchenkova of Russia and Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic on the center court at Roland Garros. While Anastasia defeated Tamara Zidancek of Slovenia in the semi-finals, Barbora defeated Maria Sakari 7-5, 4-6, 9-7 to reach the final of a Grand Slam for the first time.
Barbora overcame the marathon hurdle that lasted three hours and 18 minutes to make the final, while Anastasia defeated world number 85 Tamara 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 34 minutes in consecutive sets. Defeated and made a place in the title match.
29-year-old Anastasia has become the first female player to have played more than 50 major tournaments. He made his Grand Slam debut at the age of 15 by entering the 2007 Wimbledon as a wildcard.
This was the 52nd time that Anastasia had made it to the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament.
Anastasia is also the first Russian female player to reach a Grand Slam final since 2015. Prior to her, Maria Sharapova of Russia had made it to the final of the Australian Open where she had to face defeat at the hands of Serena Williams of America.
With the victory in the semi-final match, Anastasia has reached the final of a tournament for the 21st time in her career. He had earlier made it to the final in Moscow in 2019.
If Anastasia manages to win the French Open, it will be her first since winning the Strasbourg tournament in 2018. He has won 12 titles in his career so far.
