Order to complete the construction of 61 model playgrounds within a week
Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori directed all the Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs) to ensure timely completion of the development projects being run in rural areas under various schemes so that the people of the district could benefit from these public welfare initiatives.
While reviewing the playground project, the DC along with Additional Deputy Commissioners (Development and General) Special Sarangal and Jasbir Singh asked the officials to complete these projects within a week. The Deputy Commissioner said that 61 model playgrounds are to be constructed in all the 11 blocks with an outlay of Rs.463.91 lakh. Around 44 playgrounds have been completed so far at a cost of Rs 349 lakh. These model playgrounds include five each in Adampur, Jalandhar West, Lohian, Mahatpur, Nurmahal, Phillaur, Roorka Kalan and Shahkot, nine in Bhogpur, six each in Jalandhar East and Nakodar development blocks.
Similarly, the DC also reviewed the progress and convergence in school projects initiated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA). He said that a total of 664 school projects are to be taken up in the district with an outlay of Rs. Out of which 553 works have been started by the officers and 402.39 lakhs have been spent on these. Thori has directed all the regional officers to commission the remaining projects as well as complete more than 50 per cent in the next week.
