Uttarakhand / Dehradun : Instructions given regarding the solution of drinking water and sewerage problems
State cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi gave necessary directions while holding a meeting with the departmental officers of Drinking Water Corporation and Jal Sansthan in his assembly room regarding the solution of drinking water and sewerage problems related to Mussoorie assembly constituency.
The Minister directed immediate installation of tube wells to the people facing drinking water problems in Rajendranagar to get rid of the drinking water problem. In this regard, the officials of Drinking Water Corporation apprised the Minister that at present, adequate drinking water is not being supplied to the people from the old drinking water line, for which the work of construction of tube well will be started from next 25th June. Similarly, at Anarwala, Doon Vihar and Kuthalgate, where at present people have to supply drinking water through tankers in between. In this regard, he directed that action should be taken expeditiously to ensure adequate water supply to the people there.
Regarding Kalidas Road, where the old sewerage line has been damaged and the problem of water stagnation in the sewer line persists during the rainy season and the sewer line overflows, the Minister said that Rs 4.99 crore for the new sewer line at this place. Approval of Rs. has been given and to start this work, he directed the departments to start the tendering process soon. The Minister directed the Drinking Water Corporation and Jal Sansthan that due to the increase in population with time and the water label going down continuously, there is a possibility of more shortage of drinking water in future. In view of this, work on a long-term plan related to drinking water supply, under which check dams, lakes etc. should be constructed in high altitude areas adjacent to the population so that the water label can be improved due to underground recharge with water. The minister directed the executive departments that wherever the road is excavated during the work, the quality road construction should be completed simultaneously so that people do not have to face any kind of problem in the coming rainy season.
