Government will not delay in fixing minimum wage: Center
The Labor Ministry has said that the government has no intention of delaying the fixation of the minimum wage and the national minimum wage. There were reports that setting up of an expert group with a tenure of three years on the issue is aimed at delaying the fixation of minimum wage and national minimum wage. After these reports, the ministry has given this clarification on Saturday.
Earlier this month, the ministry announced that the Center has constituted an expert group headed by noted economist Ajit Mishra on the issue. This group will provide technical information and recommendations for fixing minimum wages and wages. The tenure of the expert group is three years. The ministry said that there have been reports in some sections of the media that the stakeholders believe that this is an attempt by the government to delay in fixing the minimum wage and the national minimum wage. The ministry said that we would like to clarify that the government has no such intention. The expert group will submit its recommendations to the government at the earliest.
