Uttarakhand : Rivers in spate due to torrential rains, many ghats submerged in Rishikesh
Monsoon in Uttarakhand is showing dreadful form since the beginning. The rivers are in spate due to the torrential rain that has been going on for several hours. The water in the rainy drains has also increased. The water level of Ganga has increased in Rishikesh and Haridwar. Due to which the alert has been issued. Rivers Ganga, Gori, Sharda, Alaknanda, Mandakini and Nandakini are flowing above the danger mark.
Incessant rain continues in Rishikesh. The water level of Ganga has reached 340.34 rl meters. Ganga is flowing 18 cm below the danger mark. Almost all the Ganga Ghats of Parmarth Niketan Swargashram, Triveni and Laxman Jhula have been submerged. Mayakund, Chandeshwar Nagar has been flooded.
An alert has been issued to ashrams and hotels in Tapovan Nagar and Munikireti. Tehri, Pauri and Rishikesh administration is continuously getting Munadi. In Raiwala’s Gauhari Mafi, Pratatnagar and Shyampur’s Khadri Mafi, people are being asked to move to safer places.
The Ganga is in spate due to the release of 3.75 lakh cusecs of water from Haridwar to the Ganges at 6 am on Saturday after rain in the hills and plains. The water level of Ganga started rising in Haridwar from 2 pm onwards. At 2 o’clock in the night, 2,15,698 cusecs of water came in the Ganges. In the night itself, the UP Irrigation Department opened all the gates of Bhimgouda Barrage. An alert had already been issued for this.
The water level of water had reached the highest 3 lakh 92 thousand 104 cusecs this morning. A lot of silt is coming with the water. At present, there is no damage due to the rise in water level in Haridwar. Due to the opening of the barrage, the water of the Ganges canal has stopped. 12 thousand cusecs of water was being released for UP in the Ganges canal.
