Yogi government will bring back the identity of Manchester of the East to Kanpur

The city of Kanpur, which has been making its mark as the Manchester of the East for decades, will once again be seen shining on the world map with the efforts of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. With the efforts of the government, big industrialists of the country are showing interest in setting up their industries in and around Kanpur. These industrialists have invested in sectors ranging from textiles to manufacturing. Apart from this, a Mega Leather Park is being set up in Kanpur. Under the Mega Leather Cluster Project, 50 thousand people will get jobs in this mega leather park to be built on 235 acres and an investment of Rs 5850 crore will come. With this dream project of Shri Yogi, Kanpur will again be known as Textile Hub and Leather City.

Kanpur, an industrial city situated on the banks of the Ganges in the state, is included in the major cities of the country. Kanpur was once called the Manchester of the East due to the textile industry. Due to the leather business here, this city was also called Leather City, but due to increasing pollution and technological changes in the textile industry and neglect of the previous governments, this city lost its identity. Kanpur was mentioned among the most polluted cities of the country.

Sources said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is determined to give world-wide recognition to this historic city, under his guidance, the project of Mega Leather Park was prepared to re-known Kanpur as Textile Hub and Leather City. Along with this, industrialists were contacted by taking cognizance of the proposals received from the industrialists to set up their industries in Kanpur for the establishment of textile and other industries. He was told that the State Government has made several amendments in the industrial policies to promote investment in the State.

According to the officials of the Industrial Development Department, being influenced by the industrial policies of the state government, big industrialists are now setting up their industries in Kanpur in many areas including textiles. In just three years, 23 proposals have been received for setting up industries in Kanpur city and Kanpur countryside. About seven thousand people will get employment due to the landing of these investment proposals of about four thousand crore rupees. Industrialists have also set up their units (factories) on 11 out of 23 investment proposals and are in a position to start production.

According to officials, RP Polypax has built a textile factory in Kanpur with an investment of Rs.150 crore. Kanpur Plastics Limited has set up a textile factory in Kanpur Dehat at a cost of two hundred crore rupees. Production has started in these companies. Apart from this, Sparsh India Private Limited has invested 600 crores on the construction of plastic factory in Kanpur Dehat. Rimjhim Steel Company is making an investment of Rs 550 crore to build a steel rolling mill in Kanpur countryside. Under the scheme launched by the government for setting up non-polluting industries in multi-storeyed building, work has also started on setting up flat factory in Kanpur.

Apart from this, the work of setting up of Mega Leather Park, which is proving to be a game changer for Kanpur, is also going on fast. This leather park will be built in Ramaipur village of Kanpur. For its establishment, 235 acres of land has been acquired. The approval of the Ministry of Commerce of the Central Government has been received for the establishment of this park. This will be the first leather park in the country to be established in Kanpur. With its establishment, Kanpur will be able to further improve its position among the ten largest leather manufacturing states of the country.

Under the Mega Leather Cluster Project in Kanpur, 50,000 people will get direct employment in the leather park. While one and a half lakh people will get indirect employment. More than 150 tanneries will function in this park. From leather shoes, purses, jackets to other world class products, they can be made and exported in this park.
