BCCI to bid for Champions Trophy, World T20 and ODI World Cup in 2025

The Indian Cricket Board has decided to bid for hosting the Champions Trophy, a T20 World Cup and an ODI World Cup. This decision has been taken in the virtual emergency meeting of BCCI’s Apex Council. According to the information, the board has decided to stake claim to host three global tournaments apart from two World Cups in the shorter formats in the eight-year tournament cycle starting 2024.

“Yes, we will stake claim to host the Champions Trophy in 2025, the T20 World Cup in 2028 and the ODI World Cup in 2031,” a senior official said. The Apex Council has agreed in principle to this.

The International Cricket Council recently announced that the next future tour schedule would include the Champions Trophy, which has not been held since 2017.

Apart from this, the BCCI also decided to constitute a 10-member committee to decide the modalities of compensation for domestic players due to the cancellation of Ranji Trophy last season.

The T20 World Cup will be held every two years in the International Cricket Council’s next 8-year Future Tours program, while 14 teams will participate in the 50-over World Cup from 2027. Four seasons of the World Test Championship and two Champions Trophy will be played in the next round.
