Chirag Paswan will take out Bihar Yatra on his father’s birth anniversary
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan will travel across Bihar on July 5, the birth anniversary of his father and party founder Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag Paswan, facing the coup of his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, held a meeting of the party’s national executive in the national capital.
After the meeting, he said, “On July 5, on my father’s birth anniversary, I will start the Ashirwad Yatra from Hajipur and it will pass through all the districts of Bihar.”
In the meeting, members of the LJP’s national executive, led by Paras, opposed the use of party symbols by the rebels.
Paswan’s decision to launch a roadshow from his uncle’s Lok Sabha constituency Hajipur is being seen as a direct show of power to control the party founded by his father.
He had also met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and urged him to review his decision to accept one of the suspended party MPs in his place as the leader of the LJP in the House.
Paswan was removed as the leader of the LJP in the Lok Sabha after five of the six MPs wrote to the Speaker that they had chosen Paras as the leader of the LJP in the House.
After the coup, Paswan called a virtual national executive meeting and sacked five rebel MPs from the primary membership of the party. In response, in a meeting held in Patna, the rebel MPs led by his uncle also removed him from the post of party chief.
