Uttarakhand : Air service between Dehradun-Pithoragarh will start from September 1
The air service between Dehradun-Pithoragarh in the state will start from September 1. Along with this, preparations are also being made to expand Gauchar and Chinyalisaur airstrips. The central government is also considering opening an international airport in Kumaon. The fixed wing air service between Dehradun-Pithoragarh started in the year 2018 under the regional connectivity scheme is still closed. In view of this, the State Government continuously sent letters to the Center to operate the air service. Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat had raised the issue of this air service with the Center during his visit to Delhi this month. On this, the Center had assured positive action. Apart from this, Dehradun Chinyalisaur air service is also closed in the state. Now in this episode, on Tuesday, BJP’s National Media Head and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni and Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Bishan Singh Chufal met Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Puri in New Delhi. During this, there was a detailed discussion about the air service in Uttarakhand. Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni said that the Union Minister of State has instructed the officials to operate 19-20 seater air service between Dehradun-Pithoragarh from September 1. Meanwhile, necessary action will be taken to operate the air service. He said that the expansion of Gauchar and Chinyalisaur airstrips were also discussed in the meeting. It has been agreed to start work on this soon. There was also a positive discussion on building an international airport in Kumaon. He said that every effort would be made to improve the air service in Uttarakhand. He himself will meet the Civil Aviation Minister and work towards improving the air services in Uttarakhand.
