Delhi-Goa Rajdhani Express derails after colliding with boulder, all passengers safe

A major accident was averted in Rajdhani Express going from Delhi to Goa today. The Rajdhani Express going from Hazrat Nizamuddin in the national capital Delhi to Margao in Goa derailed in the Karbude tunnel near Ratnagiri on Saturday morning. The place where the train derailed is 325 km from Mumbai. There is no report of any casualty in this incident and all the passengers are completely safe. A spokesperson of Konkan Railway, which operates trains on this route, said that a large stone had fallen on the tracks, due to which the train derailed. A Rail Maintenance Vehicle (RMV) has reached the accident site. An Accident Relief Medical Van (ARMV) with equipment to bring the train back on track has been dispatched from Ratnagiri to the accident site. “The officials of Konkan Railway have also reached the spot to clear the line,” he said.

The Konkan Railway is responsible for operating the 756 km long route between Roha near Mumbai (Maharashtra) and Thokur near Mangalore (Karnataka). The route is spread over three states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka and the route covers many rivers, valleys and mountains, making it one of the challenging terrains of the railways.
