Jos Buttler ruled out of white ball series against Sri Lanka due to injury

England’s veteran wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the ongoing white-ball series against Sri Lanka due to a calf injury. He was injured during the first T20 match against Sri Lanka in Cardiff, Wales, due to which he could not play the second match on Thursday.

He underwent an MRI scan in Cardiff on Thursday after feeling uneasy and restless at the end of his match-winning 68-run victory in England’s eight-wicket win in the first T20, which found a muscle torn. He will go back home and be in rehabilitation to recover from the injury. Meanwhile, England have included David Malan in his place in their ODI squad, which will play the three-match ODI series against the Sri Lankan team.

It is noteworthy that England have won the current three-match T20 series 2-0. The third and final T20 match will be played in Southampton on Saturday.
