Uttarakhand : Farmers marched to Raj Bhavan in protest against agricultural laws
Police arrested the farmers going to give memorandum to the President
The farmers, who were going to submit a memorandum to the President through the Governor to protest against the agricultural laws, were arrested by the police in Hathibadkala. During this there was a heated argument between the farmers and the police. The arrested farmers were brought to the police lines, where they were later released. On Saturday, on the call of United Kisan Morcha, farmers gathered near the parade ground for the cancellation of three agricultural laws and other demands. In this a large number of farmers had reached from Doiwala and Vikasnagar. From here it reached Hathibadkala via Subhash Road, Rajpur Road, New Cantt Road. Near the Hathibadkala post, the police stopped the farmers from going ahead by putting up barricades. Angered by this, the farmers sat on a dharna on the road itself. While the farmers were adamant on going ahead, the police kept them in check. During this there was a heated argument between the policemen and the farmers. The farmers accused the police of pushing. The farmers sought permission for four people to meet the governor. On not getting permission, the farmers were adamant on the demand to call the representative of the Governor or the DM. After this the police arrested him. The police took the farmers to the police line by filling them in buses. About 35 farmers were released on personal bond. During this, farmer leader Jagtar Singh Bajwa, in-charge Usha Tomar, Guru Sevak Singh, Jitendra Singh Jitu, Harjinder Singh, Malook Singh Khinda, Prem Singh Sahota, Kulwinder Singh, Gurinder Singh Bobby, Harendra Balian, Gurpal Singh, Ajit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Surendra Singh Sajwan, Raghuveer Chauhan, Kamaruddin, Daljit Singh, Umed Bora, Rajendra Singh, Balbir Singh, CITU secretary Lekhraj, Gagan Kakar, Dheeraj Bhandari, Indu Naudiyal, Congress leader Sangram Singh Pundir etc. Many farmers and labor organizations including Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), Uttarakhand Kisan Sabha, labor organization CITU joined the march. On the other hand, the farmers coming from Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar were stopped by the police in Haridwar itself.
