Heavy rain in Japan, 28500 people will be evacuated to safer places

More than 28,500 people have been ordered to be evacuated due to the threat of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Japan’s Shizuoka province.

About 7,900 people from Minamizu city and about 20,700 people from Shimoda city will be evacuated from their areas and shifted to safer places. Both cities are located on the Izu Peninsula.

Japan’s Shizuoka, Wakayama and Kagoshima prefectures are receiving heavy rain and are expected to worsen on Thursday. Due to continuous heavy rains, there is a danger of floods and landslides.
