Uttarakhand : Government should implement land law in Uttarakhand: Dr. Mahendra Rana
Dr. Mahendra Rana, senior social worker of Uttarakhand and board member of Medical Council of India, has demanded from the Uttarakhand government that the government should make a proposal without delay and make provisions in Article-371. In which, like Himachal Pradesh, only the residents of the state should have the right to employment and land in Uttarakhand. There should be a ban on the purchase and sale of land by the people of other states. This fight is the battle of water-forest-land, culture, roti-beti and right-handedness of Uttarakhand. Land law simply means the right to land, that is, your land is only your right and not someone else’s. When Uttarakhand was formed, after that till 2002, people from outside states could buy land in Uttarakhand up to 500 square meters only, in the year 2007, as Chief Minister BC Khanduri raised this limit to 250 square meters. After this, on 6 October 2018, BJP Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat brought a new ordinance, named the Bill to amend the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Destruction and Land Reforms Act, 1950, it was passed in the assembly, in this section 143 (a), section 154 ( 2) Added., that is, the ceiling on land purchase in the mountains was abolished. Now anyone could buy land anywhere in the state. Along with this, the land ceiling was abolished in the plain districts of Uttarakhand, Dehradun, Haridwar, US Nagar. In these districts, land can be bought or sold more than the prescribed limit. Dr. Rana expressed concern and said that if the land law brought by the earlier Khanduri government and Congress government is not implemented again in the state, then this small state of ours will come under the grip of land mafia and outside anarchic elements.
