WAKO India Kickboxing Federation gets official recognition as National Sports Federation

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has decided to recognize WAKO India Kickboxing Federation as National Sports Federation (NSF) for promotion and development of kickboxing sport in India.

The Waco India Kickboxing Federation is affiliated to the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), the international federation for the sport of kickboxing. The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at its meeting on 10 June 2021 has approved the recommendation for Waco to become a fully recognized member of the sport’s Olympic family. WAKO is a provisionally recognized member of the IOC since 30 November 2018. Full recognition of WAKO will be finalized during the IOC session in Tokyo in July 2021. Being fully incorporated and accepted into the Olympic movement is vital to the recognition and development of the sport of kickboxing.

It is expected that with the recognition of the WAKO India Kickboxing Federation as NSF by the government, the sport of kickboxing will develop at a rapid pace in the country.
