IPL mega auction date fixed, 50 more players from 2 new teams will get a chance to play
BCCI has started preparations for IPL 2022. Two teams are to be entered in IPL 2022, that is, the number of teams will increase from eight to ten. Along with this, the rest of the rules are also being considered by the BCCI. The two new IPL teams will get to see a tremendous struggle to buy, as many legends of the country are preparing to pick up new teams. It is believed that tenders will be issued for this in the next month i.e. in August and with this it will be clear that what is going to be the base price for the new teams of IPL.
The franchises will be allowed to retain a maximum of four players before the mega auction. The team management can either retain three Indian players and one foreign player or two Indian players and two foreign players. The franchise will have to deduct the salary of these four players before going to the auction. According to the rules, there are 25 players in an IPL team. But after the addition of 2 new teams, maximum 50 players will get a chance to play in the IPL. A team can have a maximum of 8 foreign players. In such a situation, 34 domestic and 16 foreign players will be able to join these two new teams.
With the arrival of two new teams, the BCCI will increase the purse from 85 crores to 90 crores, which means an additional 50 crores will be added to the budget of all the ten franchises. If a team retains three players, their salary structure will be Rs 15 crore, Rs 11 crore and Rs 7 crore. If two players are retained, it will be Rs 12.5 crore and Rs 8.5 crore. On the other hand, if a player is retained, the salary structure will be Rs 12.5 crore.
Mega auction may happen in December
The mega auction was to be held before IPL 2021. But due to the loss to the franchise due to the Corona epidemic and there was not much gap between IPL 2020 and 2021, the mag auction was postponed for a year. Now the Mag Auction is expected to take place in December this year while two new franchises can be introduced by October.
