⏺️JDU, AIADMK, LJP, Apna Dal will get a chance
⏺️The first extension of the second term of the Modi cabinet may happen on Wednesday
⏺️Left with Shiv Sena-Akali Dal, only the symbolic presence of RPI was left in the government
The market of speculation is hot on the first cabinet expansion of the second term of the Modi government. There is a discussion that this week, probably on Wednesday, the cabinet expansion will be approved. Through the cabinet expansion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give representation to at least four NDA allies JD(U), LJP, AIADMK and Apna Dal in the government. Apart from this, there is talk of including YSR Congress in the government.
Sources said that on Tuesday, Home Minister Shah will hold several important meetings regarding the expansion. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been given a message to reach Delhi through phone. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Bhupendra Yadav have been asked to stay in Delhi for the time being. Talks with JDU are in the final stages. While Shah will hold a meeting with leaders of some allies on Tuesday.
Significantly, in the second term of the Modi government, after the Shiv Sena and Akali Dal broke ties with the NDA and the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, the role of allies in the government has become symbolic. At present, only RPI (Athawale) has participation in the government. The RPI is not represented in the Lok Sabha. Its chairman Ramdas Athawale is a member of the Rajya Sabha as a minister of state in the government.
At least four new parties will get representation
In expansion, the four parties involved in the NDA are sure to get representation in the government. After the Lok Sabha elections, the proposal of only one seat in the government formation was rejected by the JDU. Now JDU has been offered two cabinet and one minister of state. At present, talks are going on in this matter. Pashupati Paras is likely to become a minister from LJP. Negotiations are also on to include AIADMK in the government. Anupriya Patel is set to be made a minister from Apna Dal. While talks with YSR Congress are also going on for the time being.
Changes in 23 ministries, leave of nine ministers
According to sources, 23 ministries will be the victims of expansion and change. At least nine ministers will be discharged from the cabinet. There is talk of the removal of two cabinet and seven ministers of state. Apart from this, there is a possibility of change in the portfolios of seven ministers. At present, nine ministers have additional charge of ministries. The workload of these ministers will be reduced. Presently there are 57 members in the Modi cabinet. According to the constitution, 81 ministers can be accommodated in the cabinet.
Keeping an eye on electoral states
There are assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur next year. Caste-social balance will be maintained in these states also through expansion. In terms of expansion, all eyes are on Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, there is talk of giving a place in the cabinet to former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat or Tirath Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand.
