‘Strict lockdown’ extended till July 14 in Bangladesh
The Bangladesh government has extended the nationwide ‘strict lockdown’ imposed against the Kovid-19 epidemic till 14 July. The country’s cabinet division made this announcement in a circular. To deal with the epidemic, Bangladesh had announced a seven-day lockdown from July 1 with ‘strict measures’. Now it has been extended till July 14.
The Cabinet Division in its latest order said that in view of the current situation of the ongoing pandemic in the country, the period of all existing restrictions has been extended. Earlier, Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) had reported 9,964 new cases of corona and 164 deaths in a single day.
This was the highest single day death toll in the country since the start of the pandemic on March 8, 2020. The total number of infected in the country is 9,54,881 and the death toll has gone up to 15,229.
