Naidu holds meeting with Birla on the monsoon session of Parliament

Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu has detailed discussions with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in view of the preparations for the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
Sources in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said that Shri Naidu held a meeting with Shri Birla on July 07 and reviewed the preparations being made for smooth functioning of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon Session. General Secretaries and senior officials of both the houses also participated in the meeting.

Sources said that during the meeting it was decided that during the monsoon session also, the same COVID-19 norms will be followed as in the previous session of Parliament. According to sources, the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker also reviewed the vaccination program of the MPs. In the meeting, both the presiding officers were informed that most of the MPs of both the houses have taken the vaccine. Both the presiding officers also directed the remaining MPs to make arrangements to get the vaccine administered at the earliest.
Sources said that 205 members of the Rajya Sabha have been vaccinated against Kovid. Out of these 16 MPs have taken both the vaccines while 06 MPs have not been able to take the vaccine due to physical ailments. Sources said that even in the monsoon session of Parliament, MPs will sit in the gallery besides the main hall.
