Mahmudullah, who played his career best innings a day earlier, suddenly announced his retirement

A day after playing the best innings of his career, Mahmudullah informed teammates that he was no longer ready to continue his Test career and announced his retirement. His sudden announcement ahead of the third day’s play against Zimbabwe has come as a shock to his teammates and team management. Mahmudullah scored an unbeaten 150 against Zimbabwe. This is the highest score of his Test career. This batsman made his Test debut in the year 2009 against West Indies.

Mahmudullah has scored 2914 runs in 49 Test matches at an average of 33. He has five centuries and 16 half-centuries to his name in Test cricket.

Mahmudullah has also taken 43 wickets in Test cricket. His best performance has been five wickets for 51 runs. However, Mahmudullah will continue to play limited overs cricket.
