Bangladesh hopeful of victory against Zimbabwe
Chasing a tough target of 477 runs from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe scored 140 for the loss of three wickets at stumps on the fourth day of the one-off Test on Sunday. While Bangladesh need seven wickets to win, Zimbabwe need 337 runs.
Mehdi Hasan made Bangladesh’s task easy by catching Brendan Taylor for 92 off his own ball. Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan gave Bangladesh a third breakthrough with T Caetano lbw before the end of the day. Taylor scored 92 runs off 73 balls with the help of 16 fours while Caetano could only manage seven runs. Dio Myers 18 and Donald Tiripano were at the crease for seven at stumps.
Earlier, Bangladesh declared their second innings after scoring 284 runs for one wicket. In Bangladesh’s second innings, Shadman Islam scored an unbeaten 115 off 196 balls with nine fours and Najmul Hossain Shanto scored an unbeaten 117 off 118 balls with five fours and six sixes. Both shared an unbeaten partnership of 196 runs for the second wicket. Opener Saif Hassan was dismissed after scoring 43 runs.
