Saryu river accident: all drowned bodies recovered, death toll is nine
15 people of four families had come from Agra to visit Ayodhya Dham
Two people who were missing after drowning during a bath at Guptarghat in Saryu river were recovered on Sunday afternoon. In the rescue operation, six bodies have been recovered till Friday evening and one on Saturday. The rescue was also called off on Sunday with the recovery of all the people submerged in the water, now the death toll has risen to nine.
15 people had come to visit Ayodhya from Shastri Puram located in Sikandra police station area of Agra. On Friday afternoon, at around one o’clock in the afternoon, 15 members went towards the river one by one to save a person drowning on the raw ghat of the river. However, Satish, Naman, Ashok were saved by an unknown local person. While Aarti, Dhairya and Gauri were rescued with the help of local diver boatman and police, PAC. The rescue started under the supervision of the officers. After much effort, the bodies of Lalit, Pankaj, Shruti, Drishti, Sita alias Damini and Rajkumari were also recovered. But the search for Priyanshi, Julie and Sarthak continued. The NDRF and SDRF reached here and started the rescue. Priyanshi’s body was also recovered on Saturday afternoon. Still the search for the remaining two continued. On Sunday, Julie was recovered from Tanda area of Ambedkar Nagar while Sarthak’s body was recovered from near Jamthara Ghat of Cantt police station area by the NDRF team. During the three-day rescue, the team pulled out 12 people from the river. Of which nine have died. At present, the rescue has been called off after all the people were evacuated from the river. This accident shook the entire state. Everyone who heard was shocked. People who came from Agra to Ayodhya Dham tour included Satish (40) son Jagmohan, Naman (07) son Satish, Ashok (65) Nemichand, Aarti (35) wife Satish, Dhairya (07) daughter Lalit, Gauri (28) daughter Ashok, Priyanshi (16) daughter Satish, princess (61) wife Ashok, Julie (39) daughter Ashok, Sarthak (16) son Devendra Kumar, Sita alias Damini (35) wife Sachin, Drishti (04) daughter Sachin, Lalit (40) son Ashok, Pankaj (25) son Ashok and Shruti (20) daughter Devendra Kumar were included.
