West Indies beat Australia in first T20

Andre Russell (51) was followed by a blistering half-century from left-arm pacer Obed McCoy (4 for 26) as the West Indies beat Australia by 18 runs in the first T20I on Saturday in the five-match series. Took a 1-0 lead.

West Indies scored 145 for six in 20 overs. Russell hit three fours and five sixes in his 51 off 28 balls. Opener Lendl Simmons hit two fours and two sixes in 27 runs off 28 balls. For Australia, Hosh Hazlewood took three wickets for just 12 runs in four overs while Mitchell Marsh took two wickets for 26 runs.

Chasing the target, Australia were reduced to 127 runs in 16 overs from a comfortable position of 105 for four in the 11th over. For Australia, Mitchell Marsh scored 51 runs in 31 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes, while opener Matthew Wade contributed 33 runs in just 14 balls with the help of one four and three sixes.

McCoy took four wickets for 26 runs for the Windies, for which he got the player of the match award, while Hayden Walsh took three wickets for 23 runs.
