Uttarakhand : 100 units free electricity was only proposal : Minister Hark’s tone changed
The announcement of giving 100 units of electricity free to all domestic consumers every month seems to be a noose around the neck of the Energy Minister. Energy Minister Harak Singh Rawat’s tone has changed after the opposition to this announcement inside the BJP. He says that he did not make any announcement, only asked the department to make a proposal. The department is making a proposal, the cabinet has to decide on it.

In fact, last week Energy Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat took a meeting of the officers of the three energy corporations at Urja Bhawan. After the meeting, he told the media that he is coming up with a free electricity scheme every month for about 13 lakh domestic electricity consumers in the state. Under this, no money will be taken from those who have 100 units of electricity bill every month, while those who have 100 to 200 units of electricity will be given 50 percent subsidy.
The very next day, when Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was questioned by media persons, he refused any such proposal. Meanwhile, internal protests started rising in the BJP regarding this announcement. According to sources, this populist announcement of Harak Singh Rawat has also reached the party central leadership, on which the high command has expressed displeasure. Therefore, the tone of Energy Minister Harak Singh Rawat has also changed.
In a conversation with Amar Ujala, Harak said that he had not made any announcement. He only asked the department to make a proposal. It is the responsibility of the departments to make a proposal and the cabinet has the sole right to take any decision on it. He said that the proposal is being prepared at the departmental level, which will go to the Finance Department. Moving forward from there, it will be kept in the cabinet meeting. After this, whatever decision the cabinet takes, it will be implemented. Let us tell you that the Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami is constantly saying that his priority is to provide cheap and quality 24 hours electricity. He has not talked about free electricity anywhere so far.
Will increase dividend so much that everyone will get free electricity
Energy Minister Harak Singh Rawat also put forth the future strategy in a conversation with the media on Monday. He said that if the BJP government comes to power again in 2022, if they get the energy department, then they will make domestic electricity completely free in the next three-four years. He will increase the dividend of the Energy Department so much that people will easily get free electricity. He also said that Arvind Kejriwal has no mass base in the state, he is doing the politics of lies. He also targeted Harish Rawat and said that he was the Chief Minister of the state, then why did not this scheme be implemented during his tenure.
