Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar sworn in as Governor of Himachal Pradesh




Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar took oath as the 28th Governor of Himachal Pradesh in a simple yet dignified ceremony held at Raj Bhavan today. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Ravi Malimath.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Lady Governor Anagha Arlekar were also present on the occasion. The Governor was given a guard of honour. Chief Secretary Anil Khachi read out the appointment warrant. Secretary to the Governor, Priyatu Mandal obtained the signature of the Governor on the certificate of charge.
Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Rajeev Saizal, Legislators, Chairman of Human Rights Commission Justice P.S. Rana, Chief Information Commissioner Narendra Chauhan, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Chairman Ajay Sharma, Mayor Satya Kaundal, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, Advocate General Ashok Sharma, Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Members of various Commissions, Boards and Corporations, Vice Chancellors of Universities, Senior Officers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
After this, while interacting with the representatives of the media, the Governor said that he would take forward the development initiatives of the State Government. He said that this is the highest office of the Constitution and he would work in coordination with the State Government.
The Governor said that all possible support would be provided to the state government for the development of the state. He said that we will work together to protect the prosperous environment of the state.
Shri Arlekar said that he was impressed by the hospitality of the people of the state. He said that many people of Himachal Pradesh contributed in the Goa Liberation Movement, among whom Ram Singh was one. He will try to meet his family members.
The Governor along with the family members participated in the Yagya before taking oath.
