There is a possibility of a war of words on inflation in the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 19. Congress is going to surround the government by making it a big issue. On Tuesday, the Congress alleged that the central government has failed to contain inflation. Accusing the Congress of taking advantage of the helplessness of the people, the Congress demanded to reduce the prices of petroleum products and provide relief to the people by reducing the rates of GST on essential commodities.

Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the Congress will raise the issue of inflation in the monsoon session of Parliament and will demand a full discussion. On Tuesday, he told reporters that the NDA government is constantly trying to tell that inflation concerns are fake and if the government ignores this issue, then this issue will end. The Congress party condemns the gross negligence of the Central Government on the issue of inflation. According to Chidambaram, the government and the Reserve Bank had set a target of inflation around four percent. Whereas consumer inflation has crossed the maximum limit of 6 per cent and has reached 6.26 per cent as per the release issued by NSO on Monday. Urban consumer inflation, which was 5.91 per cent in May, rose to 6.37 per cent in June. Core inflation rose to 5.8 per cent from 5.5 per cent in a month. He said that food inflation has reached 5.58 per cent. Pulses inflation has risen to 10.01 per cent. The inflation rate of fruits has reached 11.82 percent. The inflation rate of transport service has gone up to 11.56 percent. Fuel inflation has gone up to 12.68 percent. He also said that the government is continuously increasing the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
