The Centrally Sponsored Scheme, National AYUSH Mission is being implemented by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India with the objective of providing affordable AYUSH services. It aims to simultaneously provide AYUSH facilities in Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs), with wider reach through up-gradation of AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries, for up-gradation of AYUSH educational institutions. Through strengthening institutional capacity at the state level, setting up of 50 bedded integrated AYUSH hospital, AYUSH public health program and running 12,500 AYUSH health and wellness centres. The objective behind these is to provide services of a holistic wellness model based on AYUSH principles and practices to empower the masses for self-care by reducing disease burden and out of pocket expenses.
The Mission is bridging the gaps in health services by supporting the efforts of State/UT Governments to provide AYUSH health services/education especially in backward and remote areas in the country. Under NAM, special attention is paid to the specific needs of such areas and higher resource allocation in their annual plans.
