Uttarakhand / Haridwar : Government should make arrangements to provide Gangajal to Shiv devotees: Pankaj Mata

Also demanded to give relief amount to the traders

Appreciating Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s decision to ban Kanwar Yatra, Pankaj Mata, General Secretary of Dev Ganga Vyapar Mandal, said that this decision of the government has caused disappointment to the business class. But in view of the possibility of the third wave of Kovid coming, this decision of the government is commendable. In a statement issued to the press, Pankaj Mata said that along with banning the Kanwar Yatra, the government should also take care of the sentiments of the devotees. He said that crores of devotees from different states participate in the huge Kanwar Yatra held every year and Mahadev performs Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in his sacred pagodas with the Ganges water which is carried from Harki Paidi to Kanwars. Kanwar Yatra has been postponed for the second consecutive year due to the threat of Kovid. In such a situation, respecting the sentiments of the devotees, the government should make arrangements to provide Gangajal to the devotees of Shiv from all the states. So that devotees can perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. For this, Ganga water can be supplied by establishing coordination with other states. Mata said that due to the arrival of crores of devotees in the Kanwar Yatra, the business of Haridwar gets a boost. But due to non-availability of Kanwar Yatra for two years, the traders are facing huge losses. In view of this, the government should also take steps to provide relief to the traders. Cash assistance should be given in the account of traders through relief package.
