Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji, Union Minister of Railways, Telecom, Electronics and Information Technology, in New Delhi. The Chief Minister discussed in detail various railway projects related to Uttarakhand with the Union Minister. Considering the contribution of Rs.296.67 crore given by the State of Uttarakhand in Roorkee Deoband project as sufficient, the Chief Minister requested to finance the remaining works of the project by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India and the State of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that in view of the strategic objective and the need for development of marginal districts, survey of Tanakpur Bageshwar railway line should be done instead of narrow gauge line. Along with the approval of its final location survey, the Chief Minister requested for approval for construction of Rishikesh-Uttarkashi railway line. The Chief Minister also urged for the DPR of Rs.1024 crore for doubling of Haridwar-Dehradun railway line as well as approval for the construction of diversion line at Raiwala railway station to provide direct rail facility from Doiwala to Rishikesh. The Union Minister directed his officers to take necessary action on both these proposals. The Chief Minister said that Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line is a great contribution of Prime Minister to Uttarakhand. Work is going on fast on this. The Chief Minister suggested that the possibilities of building solar power generation capacity should be considered only in the creation of infrastructure facilities being prepared for Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line. The Chief Minister also urged for the construction of Dhampur Kashipur (Via Jaspur) railway line and early approval of Corbett Eco-Express from Delhi to Ramnagar. Expressing gratitude for the in-principle approval of Bharat Net Phase-02, the Chief Minister requested for issuing administrative and financial approval of Bharat Net Phase-02 project in Uttarakhand under “State Lead” model at the earliest. The Union Minister assured of all possible cooperation. In Uttarakhand, Principal Secretary Shri RK Sudhanshu, Additional Principal Secretary Shri Abhinav Kumar, Secretary Shri Ranjit Singha were also present on this occasion.
