TV serials that have been going on for years don’t matter to me anymore: Mona Singh
Actress Mona Singh is perhaps best remembered as the glasses-wearing actress in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, but she has come a long way from those days. The actress admitted that during the time of short web series and OTT boom. In this, she too has grown into an audience like others.
We are losing patience, we want something that excites us, entertains us and is short-lived, says Mona. The TV serials running for years till now have no meaning for me because as a viewer I don’t watch. I am more attached to OTT shows from beginning to end.
She also believes that short stories keep creativity alive.
You start with a new season, you add new faces and work on the script, says the actress. It’s not about the amount of 500 to 2,000 episodes, you actually sit down and write something new, do the workshop and do it accordingly. The actress has also been a part of television shows like Jo Kya Hua Tera Vaada and Radha Ki Beti Kuch Aur Kar Dekhagi.
However, television is still presenting shows that have been running for years, some of which even have 1,000 episodes.
However, the actress feels that it may take some time to adapt the short format show for television.
He said it will take time for these things to happen on television because it is about ratings and branding, and the longer a show runs, the more money it will make. But I hope times will change for television as well.
Will demand from television audiences encourage show makers to take risks in the future?
She says, it is always about starting something, believing in your content and building it, but I also feel that audiences need some time to get used to watching something. TV has become very unpredictable. There are many shows which have gone off air within a few months.
Mona will soon be seen in the role of anchor of a crime show Mauka-e-Vardat. The show is an anthology and will focus on the way behind the heinous crimes.
Describing the show, which will air on &TV. It is a concept about how it is done and who has done it, he said. I have hosted a lot of reality shows but have never been a part of a crime show. I guess I’ll have to be more sensitive.
