There is a need to focus more on hilly areas for the development of irrigation facilities: Sandhu

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Under the chairmanship of Sandhu, the State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC) meeting was held under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana in his auditorium located in the secretariat on Thursday. The Chief Secretary directed the officers that for the development of irrigation facilities, there is a need to focus more on the hilly areas. Along with this, more focus should be on sprinkler or drip based irrigation schemes instead of making gullies in hilly areas. The Chief Secretary directed the officers that a system should be prepared for monitoring of each scheme of all departments and for Third Party Current Evaluation (JJDBHMSRKDDHMHL4 SHTTSHHHMMDGTTHL SH1DDYHDHLDBSHTH). He said that this would definitely improve the quality. He also directed to take such districts where irrigation facilities are less or not, on priority. He said that solar and electric pumps should be promoted as much as possible under the Har Khet Ko Pani Yojana. Along with focusing on cluster based farming, he talked about emphasis on implementation of schemes on the basis of market survey. During the meeting, approval was given to the annual action plans of agriculture, horticulture, watershed, irrigation and minor irrigation departments under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). On this occasion Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Manisha Panwar, Secretary Smt. Sowjanya, Shri Arvind Singh Hyanki, Shri S.A. Murugeshan and other departmental high officials were present.
