Australia avoided a clean sweep by winning the fourth T20 match against West Indies

Australia saved themselves from a clean sweep by winning the fourth T20I against the West Indies. After Australia’s four-run win in this match against Kante, the series is now standing at 3-1, although the West Indies have already won the series. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh was the hero of Australia’s victory, showing impressive performance not only in batting but also in bowling.

Batting first, Australia won the toss and made a challenging score of 189 runs in the allotted 20 overs, in response to which West Indies could score 185 runs for the loss of six wickets. There was a time when Australia’s victory seemed certain, but the West Indies batsmen took the match to the end, but the victory was not achieved.

After the dismissal of Matthew Wade, Australia captain Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh put on a crucial 114-run partnership for the second wicket. While Finch struck 53 off 37 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes, Marsh scored 75 runs in 44 balls with the help of four fours and six sixes, due to which the team was able to make a big total of 189 runs.

West Indies batsmen batted well while chasing the target. Openers Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis smashed 72 off 48 balls with 10 fours and two sixes respectively and 31 off 14 balls with four fours and two sixes respectively, but the Australian bowlers batsmen Chris Gayle, Andre Fletcher and Nicholas kept Pooran’s hands tied and then took the wickets of all three. After this Andre Russell and Fabian Allen showed explosive style. Russell scored 24 off 13 balls with the help of three sixes, while Allen scored 29 off 14 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes.
Hayden Walsh took three wickets for West Indies and Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell and Fabian Allen took one wicket each. For Australia, Mitchell Marsh took three wickets, Adam Zampa two and Riley Meredith took one wicket. Mitchell Marsh was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance with bat and ball.
