All-rounder Deepak Hooda has quit the Baroda team after breaking ties with the Baroda Cricket Association and is set to join Rajasthan for the upcoming domestic season. Rajasthan Cricket Association President Vaibhav Gehlot told through a spokesperson that he is excited to include Deepak Hooda in the team.
It is understood that the desire to change the team in Hooda came after a tumultuous season with Baroda earlier this year. In January, a day before the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, Hooda was out of the bio-bubble after getting into an altercation with team captain Krunal Pandya. He was then banned for the rest of the home season for indiscipline.
According to Baroda Cricket Association CEO Shishir Hattangadi, this time he was picked by Baroda for the training camp, but later urged him to go out. “Hooda had asked for NOC (No Objection Certificate) which has been given to him. We wish them a better future. We had picked him for the training camp on June 15. This year the coach and no one else heard anything from his side. He was not responding, so I called him around June 30, but he did not respond. Then he met me on the night of 30 June saying that he would report on 10 July as he was going somewhere. In fact, he had sent a letter that he would report for training on July 10. On the 13th, he sent another letter, in which Hooda said that he was considering changing his team and state.
The CEO also said that despite being unhappy with what happened last season, Hooda’s selection was being considered.
