Himachal Pradesh / Solan : Nauni University signs agreement for faculty training; 200 faculties will be trained

Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based company called QDesk for training of teacher class to improve the quality of education. The agreement has been signed under the Institutional Development Project (IDP) of the National Agricultural Higher Education Project of ICAR currently underway in the University. The MoU was signed in a virtual program organized in the university.

The University’s Director of Research Dr. Ravinder Sharma signed the agreement on behalf of the University while Stuart Blacklock, CEO of Kaspir, represented QDesk. The company has also tied up with Association of Indian Universities to provide virtual training to enhance the efficiency of teachers in higher education institutions.

Welcoming the participants, Dr KK Raina, Principal Investigator, IDP informed that the objective of this agreement is to provide a virtual framework for faculty training. He said that Qdex would include virtual training to the faculty members of the university on important subjects to provide quality education to the students. Under this one-year agreement, 200 faculty members of the university will be able to participate in 300 courses offered on this platform. Each teacher will have to take at least five courses. A faculty can also offer more than five courses if it so desires. Courses are based on topics such as online learning, management of meetings, course planning, learning outcomes, presentation skills, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravinder Sharma said that the Corona pandemic has reshaped education across the world and it has become very important that the skills of the teacher class are improved and they are equipped with the latest knowledge in modern teaching methods. He said that the agreement would immensely benefit the University in improving the quality of teaching and ensuring its proper dissemination.

Stuart Blacklock said the partnership will help implement the New Education Policy 2020, which includes the Sustainable Professional Development of Teachers. He said that QDesk\, through its various courses, systematically integrates the latest pedagogy about basic literacy and numeracy, creative and adaptive assessment of learning outcomes, competency-based learning, experiential learning, arts-integrated and sports-integrated. will cover. Blacklock said he would build a micro-community in Qdex for the university during the term of the agreement so that faculty would have access to all courses.
