Not aware of circumstances of death of photojournalist Danish Siddiqui: Taliban

The Taliban said it had no information about the circumstances of the death of Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui in the Spin Boldak district.

The local governor’s office had informed the media about the death of journalist Siddiqui in Spin Boldak. Fierce fighting between government security forces and the Taliban has been going on in Spin Boldak since the beginning of this week.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that we do not know in whose firing the journalist was killed. We don’t even know how he died.

He said that journalists coming to the war zone should inform the Taliban about their arrival there only then it would be able to protect them. “We regret the death of Danish Siddiqui, an Indian journalist,” the spokesperson said. Journalists are coming into the war zone without informing us.
