Uttar Pradesh / Lucknow : Child scorched after being kicked in a pressure cooker by police
In a shocking incident in Lucknow, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) sub-inspector allegedly kicked a pressure cooker from a burning stove and boiling liquid fell on the child, scorching the right hand of a young child. .
The incident happened during an anti-encroachment drive at Charbagh railway station (near a railway toilet, where rag pickers live in temporary huts). A video clip of the incident went viral on social media.
The child’s mother, Rekha said: Two policemen including a sub-inspector suddenly entered our hut and started tossing our household items. My son got burnt after he suddenly kicked the pressure cooker in which the dal was cooking.
However, Mukesh Kumar, SHO, RPF, Charbagh said: An anti-encroachment drive was launched, but the allegation that the sub-inspector kicked the pressure cooker which caused burns to a child is baseless.
These rag pickers are often called by railway officials to pick up bodies from railway tracks and are paid for the service.
