Uttar Pradesh : Supreme Court satisfied with the reply of the UP government on Kanwar Yatra, the matter was disposed of

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday filed its reply in the Supreme Court regarding the Kanwar Yatra of Shravan month. The UP government gave official information to the Supreme Court about the suspension of the yatra on behalf of the Kanwar unions through an affidavit. After being satisfied with the reply of the state government, the court disposed of the matter.

On the other hand, in Kerala, despite the positivity rate of Corona being around 11 percent, the Supreme Court took cognizance of the relaxation of the COVID protocol on Bakrid and has sought a response from the Kerala government on this till Tuesday.

Regarding the Kanwar Yatra, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had instructed all the officers on July 9 that talks should be held with the Kanwar unions in this regard and they should be persuaded to postpone the Kanwar Yatra this year like last year, after which the officials Talked to Kanwar unions.

Keeping in mind the possible third wave of Corona, during the talks, the Kanwar Sangh decided to postpone the yatra this year as well. The CM had said that the sentiments of the Kanwar Sangh should be respected. He had said that the state government fully respects the faith of all citizens.

On Monday, the UP government, while filing a reply in the Supreme Court, said that the Kanwar Sangh has decided to postpone the Kanwar Yatra. Keeping in mind the decisions of the Kanwar Sangh to postpone the yatra, the court disposed of the entire matter. At the same time, the Supreme Court was informed on behalf of the state government that the positivity rate of corona infection in Uttar Pradesh is 0.2 percent and UP is number one among all the states of the country in testing and vaccination.

Jalabhishek can be done in local temples

Under the religious tradition of Shravan month, the Kanwar Yatra was to start from July 25. Keeping in mind the third wave of Corona, like last year, this year also the Kanwar Sanghas have decided to postpone the Yatra. Devotees can perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in local temples. During this, it will be mandatory to follow the COVID protocol.
