Uttarakhand / Almora : Indefinite strike of sanitation workers continues, piles of garbage are everywhere
Indefinite strike of sanitation workers is going on for the resolution of pending demands including ending the contract system. Due to which the streets and alleyways including the main market of the city have been littered with garbage. The agitating workers also staged a sit-in in the municipality premises under the banner of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Safai Karamchari Sangh on Wednesday. They raised slogans against the government. They threatened to continue the agitation till the demand was not met. On this occasion, the employees said that the employees have been demanding for a long time to resolve the 11-point demands including abolishing the contract system. But their demands are not being heeded. Said that talks were held twice in the past as well. But no positive action has been taken on the demands so far. Due to which there is great resentment among the employees. Said that even during the Corona period, the employees are busy working with full devotion. But instead of giving incentives to the workers, the government is not fulfilling their just demands. Due to which now the employees were forced to take the path of agitation. During this, all the employees raised their voice in one voice to resolve the demands at the earliest. They threatened to continue the agitation till the demand was not met.
Due to lack of cleanliness on Eid, the problem was doubled: People had to face a lot of trouble due to lack of cleanliness even on the day of Eid. At the same time, due to rain, garbage spread on the roads. Due to which the foul smell emanating caused great trouble to the people. At the same time, due to non-collection of garbage for three days in the rainy season, people have started tormenting the fear of deadly disease. People are compelled to go through the heaps of garbage lying all over the place.
