Heavy rain may occur in West and Central India, ‘Red’ alert in Mumbai

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that heavy rainfall is forecast to continue over west and central India for the next three-four days. At the same time, a ‘red’ alert has been issued expressing the forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in the financial capital of the country. While issuing an orange alert for other districts of this region including Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal in eastern Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, IMD said that heavy to very heavy rains are forecast here. However, the Meteorological Office has said that there may be a decrease in rain in North India after 24 hours. According to the IMD, the red alert is a metaphor for ‘alert’ and its issuance means that the authorities ‘get to work to deal with the situation’.

Cyclone-like situation in Bay of Bengal

According to the IMD, a cyclone-like situation is prevailing in the Bay of North West Bengal and due to its impact, a low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of North West Bengal and adjoining areas in the next 48 hours. In such a situation, monsoon is likely to remain active in Vidarbha region between July 21-23.
The Meteorological Department official said that there is a forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in most remote areas of eastern Vidarbha. Nagpur, the largest city in the Vidarbha region, recorded 25.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 5.30 pm.

Heavy rain likely in Marathwada

Along with this, heavy and very heavy rainfall is forecast in eastern and central India between 21 and 24 July. On July 21-22, heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and on July 22 over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh.

Moderate to heavy rain with flashes in UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh

Landslides at many places in Uttarakhand

It was told that it rained in Kheri, Bareilly, Barabanki, Sitapur, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Banda, Aligarh and Maharajganj. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers at most places in the state on Thursday and has warned that lightning and thundershowers may occur at isolated places.
