Encounter broke out overnight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, two terrorists killed

Two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter between security forces and terrorists in Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu-Kashmir. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Warpora area of Sopore on Thursday after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists, a police official said on Friday.

“During the search of each house, the whereabouts of the terrorists were found and they were asked to surrender,” the official said, adding that the operation turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The security forces also gave a befitting reply to the firing. “Two terrorists were killed in the operation. There is no harm to the security personnel.” Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar congratulated the security forces for the successful operation.

Kumar was quoted as saying on the official Twitter account of Jammu and Kashmir Police, “Fayaz Warr was one of the terrorists killed, who was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilians. He was also accused of violence in North Kashmir. “Security forces have killed 80 terrorists in the Valley so far this year.
