10 m Apurvi, Elavenil could not reach air rifle event final

India’s Apurvi Chandela and Elavenil Valarivan failed to make it to the finals of the 10m air rifle event on Saturday. In qualification, she finished 16th with a score of 626.5 while Apurvi got a disappointing 34th place among 50 players with a score of 621.9.
Jeanette Hague of Norway took first place with a qualification Olympic record of 632.9. She, however, managed to finish fourth in the final with 209.3 points.
China’s Kuan Yang won the gold with a new Olympic record of 251.8. The world record of this event is still in the name of Apurvi. Apurvi had set the record in 2019 with 252.9 points.
