Himachal Pradesh / Solan : Session on literary stories organized in Shoolini University

There was another literary session on Spooky Tales by the Balletristic, the literary society of Shoolini University, Department of English, in which final year graduate students, Vaishali Thakur, Snehanjali Panicker and Rusvika Tripathi, spoke at length about their favorite short stories.

The panel included faculty members from Shoolini University’s Department of English, Prof. Manju Zaidka, Prof. Tej Nath Dhar, Neeraj Pizar, Rajesh Williams, Navreet Shahi and Sakshi Sundaram.

The session began with Vaishali Thakur’s input on “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. He summarized and analyzed the story, explaining why he liked it. The second speaker was Risvika Tripathi who spoke at W.W. Discussed the short story of “The Monkey’s Paw”.

Jacobs, in which he highlighted Gothic and allegorical elements. The third and final speaker was Snehanjali Panicker with “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe. The points he covered included the analysis of the story, the horror element, and his reasons for choosing this story.

The session was very informative, the students were greatly enriched by the knowledge gained from the discussions. The balletrist, Shoolini Loves Literature Society, holds discussions every Friday which are live streamed on several Facebook pages and have a very wide reach. It aims to bring like-minded people together and discuss aspects of literary texts, movements and writing skills that go far beyond the printed text, an attempt to bring people together through a shared love for literature .
