Mirabai Chanu’s silver medal can be converted into gold, China’s weightlifter will have a dope test

Weightlifter Mira Bai Chanu, who has made the entire country proud, may get a gold medal in the same competition in which she won a silver medal. In fact, Chinese weightlifter Hau Zhihu, the gold medalist of that match, has been stopped for a dope test. If China’s weightlifter Hau Zhihu fails in this test conducted by the Anti-Doping Authority, then Mirabai Chanu’s silver will turn into gold. Weightlifters have been asked to stay in Tokyo until the test is done and the results are out. It is noteworthy that China’s Hou Zhioui lifted the gold medal by lifting a total of 210 kg (94 kg in snatch, 116 kg in clean and jerk), while Indonesia’s Aisah Windy Kantika lifted a total of 194 kg to bag the bronze medal, while Chanu She won the medal by lifting a total of 202 kg from 115 kg in clean and jerk and 87 kg in snatch. Chanu’s success comes 20 years after Karnam Malleswari won a bronze medal in the 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Malleswari became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. With this success, Chanu left behind the bad memories of the previous Rio Olympics in 2016 when she had failed in all three attempts in the clean and jerk. The gold medal in this event was won by Hou Zhihui of China with a total lift of 210 kg (94 + 116) while Aisah Windi Kantika of Indonesia won with a lift of 194 kg (84 + 110).
