Olympics : Players can temporarily remove masks on podium

Organizers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have allowed athletes to take individual photos and a group photo on the podium without masks for 30 seconds. According to a press release from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the winning ceremony protocol has been adapted to allow athletes to take a photo for the media, in line with the requirements of the Tokyo 2020 playbook and scientific advice.
The IOC recognizes that winning a medal is a unique moment in his sporting career and should also reflect his emotions, which are hidden in the mask.
This new protocol has started coming into force from July 25 and will be implemented everywhere in the coming days.
