Police shot a young man not wearing a mask in Congo
In Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, police shot a man for not wearing a mask.
Honore Shama, a student of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kinshasa, was shooting a video on the streets of the capital as part of the practical work requirement of her course. Meanwhile, a policeman asked him to wear a mask. Despite the student giving an explanation and showing the mask, the policeman accused him of protesting and shot him from close range. The policeman fled from the spot after the incident. Police is searching for him.
Wearing a mask is mandatory in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and violations attract a fine of 10,000 Congolese French (five dollars, four euros). On the other hand, common people allege that people are harassed regularly by the police here under the guise of collecting mask fines.
