Kotwal Suraj Prakash Sharma told that the name of the crook caught after the encounter is Mahavir. He is a resident of village Makarandgarhi police station Naujheel. He has been shot in the leg. At present, his treatment is going on in the district hospital under police custody. The Kotwal told that the caught Mahavir is a vicious robber. About 11 cases of robbery and dacoity are registered against him in Mathura, Aligarh and Bulandshahr. His partner Vishnu Gautam is lodged in Aligarh jail in the old case. He will be taken on remand soon.

This is the same miscreant who robbed the gold chain of Lata Chaturvedi, a woman who had come out of the house to visit the Dwarkadhish temple a month ago. When the devotee Mathuresh Chaturvedi came forward to confront the miscreants, the miscreant shot him. Due to which he was seriously injured.
