Accused confesses crime in Noor’s murder case
Accused Zaheer Jafar, arrested in the murder case of former Pakistan diplomat’s daughter Noor Muqadam, has confessed to his crime. During interrogation last night, he confessed his crime. Jaffer’s statement is being recorded and he will also be produced before a magistrate for recording his statement under CrPC 164, he said.
According to information received from the police, investigators have found footage of CCTV cameras installed in the neighbourhood. In the footage, Noor is seen trying to escape from the house by jumping from the first floor and running towards the main gate. When the gate is closed, the woman hides herself in the guard’s room. Later the accused can be seen entering the room and dragging him back to the house.
Meanwhile, US Embassy staff in Pakistan met Zaheer Jaffer on Monday. The embassy had requested the police to meet the accused as he was a dual citizen of the US and Pakistan. Informed the embassy officials about the case and the progress so far. US Embassy spokeswoman Heather Eaton declined to give details of the conversation, citing confidentiality.
It is noteworthy that Noor, the daughter of Shaukat Muqadam, who was Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan, was murdered on Tuesday at a house in the F-7 area of Islamabad city. His murder accused Zaheer Zafar was arrested by the police.
